MONTRÉAL, Quebec, June 10, 2016 - The Mayor of Montreal, Denis Coderre, and the Minister of Municipal Affairs and
Land Occupancy and Minister responsible for the Montréal region, Martin Coiteux, announce the creation of Capital
Intelligent Mtl, a group formed initially of 23 venture capital firms, financial institutions and corporations.
These 23 members have made $100M in private capital available for the financing of innovative businesses who will
contribute not only to building the smart city, but also to the development of know-how and to employment creation
in Montreal.
The city of Montréal offers financial support of $400,000 for the administration of Capital Intelligent Mtl
through to 2018, $300,000 of which comes from Québec government funding granted within the framework of Entente
Montréal 2025, administered by the Secrétariat à la région métropolitaine du ministère des Affaires municipales et
de l'Occupation du territoire. The total funding will be granted to PME-MTL Centre-Ville, mandated to ensure the
coordination of the group's activities.
"The vision and the leadership of the city of Montréal and of the venture capital industry takes shape today in
the form of Capital Intelligent Mtl. The message to entrepreneurs is clear: there's a future in smart cities. I
strongly encourage businesses to step up and become international smart city leaders. As President of Metropolis,
I will seize every opportunity to invite entrepreneurs from Montreal and elsewhere to submit their projects,"
declared the Mayor.
"The Government of Québec supports Montréal's economic development and Québec entrepreneurial success by investing
